Jhoanna Rose Borja Matias Debut Project - High Fashion Make-Over and Photography

Jhoanna Rose Borja Matias, was actually a model.  It was her life long dream to become a model, event specialist  and a fashion consultant.  She has been joining Beauty Pageants and contests in the Barangay   since her high school days and has learned the basic of the craft at an early age, but was  not really aware of the intricacies of fashion, beauty contests, image making and its related activities until she joined Itsura Advocacy for Responsible Imaging recently with her friend, Vhie Solsona, of the VLS Printshoppe.  With support of her friend Vhie, whose mother is a Couture, Jhoanna takes a crack for her first event as HMUA for High Fashion Modelling of the Luisa Yrinco Couture gown collection as HMUA.

ITSURA: Back to Back w/ MUA Maria Janilyn Bondoc and Model Nette Velasquez

Madam Maria Maria Janilyn Bondoc is a finalist in a Mags Best Dress Contest, Hair and Make-Up Artist,Beauty Consultant and Sales Director at Mary Kay, Events Coordinator, a Teacher and, of course, an active  member of ITSURA Advocacy for Responsible Imaging, who renders Make-Up services in  our events.  She loves modelling, fashion, make-over and kakikayan. Lately, she organized a Photoshoot event  for some children with their parents, in furtherance of our Advocacy.

She has these little kids together with their parents to experience Photoshooting.  It was fun and a learning experience for the kids showing their talents.  It is also helpful in the development of the children's self confidence, a bonding moment for the parents seeing their loved ones having fun posing before the camera. To those afar, the pictures were viewed via facebook.  Its worth the day, rather than spending time in malls, its too expensive, without any memories to be kept in still.

With model Nette Velasquez, around, we took the challenge to a back to back MUA demonstration of Madam Janilyn Bondoc's Make-Over works on Nette Velasquez.

Back to Back w/ MUA Donabel De Torres Palmes-Virtucio

Model: Jhoanna Rose Matias Borja
MUA : Donabel De Torres Palmes-Virtucio
Hair Stylist : Armando Abinsay

Producer/Back-Up Photographer : Vie Solsona
Photographer/Mentor : ITSURA Photog Alexander Lohongko

Donabel De Torres Palmes-Virtucio, Beauty Consultant and Sales Director of Mary Kay Beauty Center has been an avid supporter of the ITSURA's advocacy projects.  We have been requested by a Lady Photog, Vie Solsona, if we could undertake a project to couch her to learn Basic Photography. So, with our nice friends around, she have not only learned Basic Photography but also Basic Make-Up with the help of Donabel and a friend, who prepared the hair style of her model.  With the help of seasoned Emo Photog Alexander Lohongko, a tight shooter who loves capturing emotions, she was couched in Emo-Photography Style of Sir Alexander including basic camera settings, color calibration and pre-sets.  It was a memorable experience exposing newbies into high fashion photography.

Couching newbie photographers, especially ladies, into high fashion photography have not been successful without the help of these well meaning people, who supports us in our advocacy.  Lots of preparation is needed from make-over, hair style, clothing, not to mention the photography aspect.  Thank you for this wonderful project.  ITSURA

Soon! Filipina Mestiza Beauty . . .

MUA & Photography @ ITSURA

According to Wikipedia,    Mestiza or Mestizo is a term traditionally used in Spain and Spanish-speaking America to mean a person of combined European and Native American descent. The term was used as a racial category in the casta system that was in use during the Spanish Empire’s control of their American colonies.

To avoid confusion with the original usage of the term mestizo, mixed-race people started to be referred collectively as castas. During the colonial period, mestizos quickly became the majority group in much of what is today the Spanish-speaking parts of Latin America, and when the colonies started achieving independence from Spain, the mestizo group often became dominant. In some Latin American countries, such as Mexico, the concept of the "mestizo" became central to the formation of a new independent identity that was neither wholly Spanish nor wholly indigenous and the word mestizo acquired its current double meaning of mixed cultural heritage and descent.

The Details in Portraiture . . .

SHABBIE CRUZ
MUA: Shabbie Cruz/ITSURA

In my opinion, natural beauty (wala naman taong pangit nasa angling lang yan) and raw shots are still the best materials in portraiture. Simplicity is beauty. The less make-up, the less editing - the better. The lesser beauty loss and pixels loss, LOL!

Lighting, angling, color contrast of the environment, the depth of field and composition are factors to be considered. Everything,  from the miniature pores of the skin to the depth of field, counts in detailed portraiture. With model Madam Shabbie Cruz – “The Details in Portraiture . . . “
